A Shower for Mom and lil'BabyFras

On February 19th, Darcy was given a baby shower by three of her friends. Not only was there good food, but a wonderful devotion was given on the sacrifices and rewards of being a mother. It was a special time of celebrating the miracle of life that the Lord has placed within Darcy.

We would like to thank our very generous family and friends for all the baby stuff as we received everything we needed and then some.

A Trip to the Central Coast

Early February, we took a trip to our favorite vacation spot in San Luis Obispo, as one last getaway as a child-free couple.

This was our second time staying at the Apple Farm and probably not our last!! Due to a problem checking into our room, we were given the choice of a complimentary horse drawn carriage ride or dessert and coffee. Because Darcy has always wanted to go on a carriage ride, she jumped at the chance, but Steven... well, he was thinking more along the lines of dessert! But seeing how much it meant to Darcy, we went on the carriage ride. He still got dessert later, we just had to pay for it!

Four years ago, while driving up Highway 1 on our honeymoon, we came across a stretch of beach where hundreds of elephant seals come ashore to lounge about. When we were at the Apple Farm last year we made it a point to go back and see if that spot still there. Not only did it still exist, but it was now a major sight seeing point along the coast. At that time, a volunteer for the Friends of the Elephant Seal Society told us that the best time to come was the end of January or the first part of February to see the mating season, the female seals giving birth, and the male seals fighting. Because we wanted to see these things we planned our visit for early February. There is something much more real when you see these wonderful sea creatures in the wild, and not just in man made arenas at Sea World or at the zoo.

It happened to work out that we went the few days before Steven started his new job. He was totally stress free and was fully able to enjoy the time away without thinking about work he had left behind.

Party Like It's 1899!

On December 31st, 1999, we rang in the New Year by spending the evening with six of our friends in a Western themed Murder Mystery Game.

We each were assigned a character ahead of time, and to the best of our abilities, we showed up to the party in costume.
